Exciting travel news!

Travel String - Me - is about to go on another adventure. Starting this Sunday, 25 Nov 2007 (Australian GMT 10:00 time) I'll be flying off to Singapore and over to Malaysia for a week, then spend two weeks and a half in Taiwan.
Which means, you get to read some on-the-road stories in the next upcoming four weeks!
So. What will you get to read?
Well, first up, I am very lucky to have booked a flight to Singapore that just happens to be the new Airbus A380 with Singapore Airlines. Economy class though, but still pretty special. Apparently it's a double decker economy... mmm... fancy!
So, I'll be reporting on that as soon as we get to an internet cafe on the other side of the flight.
When we arrive in Singapore, we'll be crossing the border into a Malaysia port city called Johor Baru. We'll spend a night there and I'll write all about what I have found and all the exciting stuff about this little place. According to Lonely Planet it's nothing special and most people use it as a gateway between Singapore and Melaka - but I am sure I'll dig up something. We'll see.
Then, I'll be reporting from Penang, where we'll be staying in Paradise Sandy Beach Hotel right at the top of Penang island, an accommodation we managed to win in a minor raffle draw. I'll be writing about Penang, about Georgetown as well as the hotel location and how much I am going to enjoy bumming around on the beach! Although, the weather forecast for Penang had been rain all week, maybe I won't be so lucky after all.
After that, we will be using the budget airline Air Asia to bring us back to Singapore. I have always been intrigued by Air Asia and finally I get to experience this budget airline that supposedly to be really good. I suppose I'll be telling you about this too
When we finally get to Taiwan, there will be different stories to tell. Taiwan, is an island country half the size of Tasmania but has more population than the whole of Australia. And of course, more recently, they are the heart of the guidebook scandal between China, and her tourists.
I was born in Taiwan, so this trip will be like re-discovering my roots. We'll be around Taipei and be getting into all the hype and modernization, then we'll be heading into the mountains of Taiwan for some trekking and hot spring soaking. Not many people are aware more than 50% of the Taiwan island is made out of an extinct volcano. Hot springs are aplenty and there are lots of good hiking trails to follow.
So hopefully during my trip, I'll have time and resources to write all about it and share some photos with you. If not, I promise I'll be back on as soon as I land at home to tell these tales.
The next four weeks will be exciting for Travel String!
