The string is not yet broken!

Sorry, I've just noticed that all my blogs are very much over due for an update, specifically my beloved Travel String which has been neglected for 27 days in total!
I've been slack in this department lately mainly because... I haven't travelled! Pretty much the string has been to Sydney and back a few times and thats about it, however that's no excuse. I have plenty of previous travels I can write about and I promise a bit more will come as I start getting my acts together.
However, just so there is actually content in this entry, I'd like to make some industry updates with you all in case you are interested:
1. The financial disaster has caused many casualties, including two travel wholesalers to cease trading as of last week, as well as one travel agent to stop trading as well in the area. Scary times, but life goes on.
2. Europe airfare early birds are out for sale until 12 December. Early Bird airfares are pretty much the cheapest you'll ever get if you want to travel to Europe next year. If you know your exact dates (as these cheap airfares cannot change dates so easily and often will incur a fee) and know that you are definitely going then it's worth checking them out. Even though sales will still come and go but it is the industry's rule that early birds have to always be the cheapest overall airfare a customer can purchase.
3. Virgin Blue starts flights to Bali next year so we have another carrier to consider for Australia's most popular destination. V Australia will also start flights to L.A. in Feb, a delay of two month from their previous announcement.
4. Qantas will be flying direct three times a week to Santiago and Buenos Aires from end of November.
As for me, my next trip is to the top end of Australia and I'll be taking notes. So watch out for the report end of November.
Be back soon.
