Hotel Review: The Sebel Kirkton Park, Hunter Valley
I really needed to get away, yet I didn't have money to fly nor time to spare to spend more than 2 nights somewhere, so it was to the Hunter Valley we go.
Normally, we camp when we head to the Hunter, however with a low nightly temperature of 5 degrees, camping just didn't sound like too much fun. Especially when I was looking to relax and unwind.
After a bit of research, I settled for a room at The Sebel Kirkton Park, and what a great decision it was.
I really liked the manor style building, with a backyard looking out into the Pokolbin valley. Driving up the driveway felt more like visiting a rich friend's house in the country rather than checking in at a hotel.
The staff were friendly and the room was adequate. I say adequate because it obviously isn't your over the top luxury, more of a bed and breakfast feel of a room, in a good way.
Being a more upmarket hotel, I was surprised that breakfast wasn't extremely expensive, at $20 per person for the buffet breakfast you could easily pay that at a cafe in Sydney. There is a good in-door pool as well as a tennis court and a gym, and is not too far from all the wonderful wineries of the region.
It would make a wonderful wedding venue too.
