Tasmania: Bigger than Australia
December 11th 2008 01:10
Many people are turning back to domestic travel while the world economy and the dollar crumbles. Why? Because it's a dollar for dollar budget, you don't have to worry how much USD you'll have tomorrow when the rates change.
Yesterday we were visited by the Tasmanian Tourism Board and we were shown the many wonderful places and things to do in Tasmania. While every one who doesn't live in Tasmania still has the perception of it being a 'small' place and only need a couple of days to get through, you'd be surprised to learn that Tasmania is in fact almost the same land size as Ireland. Now you wouldn't say you could get through Ireland in a couple of days!
Another myth is that Tasmania is always cold and wet. Think again. HOBART, is in fact Australia's second driest city, just behind Adelaide.
I have never been, but have always planned to. It seems this little island has been neglected for too long, even in the epic film that is meant to be about the whole nation - AUSTRALIA - the logo also left out Tasmania!
Outragous!
So, they've done their retaliation, and here is what the tourism board came up with (Cheesy, but funny, and thought I'd share)::
Did you enjoy it? I did! I enjoyed it just as much as the one they currently have on TV, where you 'sort of' have to go overseas for the beautiful scenery and wonderful activities Tasmania offers:
