Tanna - photos
Here are some photos of Tanna. As simple as life is, it is a beautiful place to visit.
The closer you get to the base of Mt Yasur, the more alien like the landscape - this is a desert created by the volcanic ash
One of the bigger eruptions - sorry for the bad photography - I can't keep still when I am slightly shivering from the cold and the noise!
Believe or not, this is the major road - the highway- that circles the island. The villagers have one shared ute that they use to go to town occassionally, but most stay in their areas to tend to their land - the volcanic ash makes the land extremely fertile, and they grow coffee and all sorts of crops for local and export use
There are no sandy beaches in Tanna but little rock holes like this is great for snorkelling and a bit of swimming. Mass tourism has not yet hit Tanna therefore it's likely you'll be sharing these swimming sessions by yourselves or with locals
