I super enjoyed these! Chinese culture is so amazing -- all the details make it even more interesting.

And that Hello Kitty theme at the airport? Priceless!

Hehe I know isn't it? Taiwan has a blend of Chinese / Japanese and a bit of the Dutch culture from long ago making it quite unique. I saw the Hello Kitty lounge on the news and I made sure to check it out!

Only one gate is that though. Wouldn't it be cool if they had every gate with a different theme?

Oh that would be fun! Hello Kitty in one, My Melody in another, Little Twin Stars in the other gate...

Amy,

Before seeing your pictures, I would have never thought to go to Taiwan, but now I know I will have to include it in my future jaunts... I love the blend of cultures, as you say.

Thanks for sharing, they have given much enlightment.

Hi Lilla,

Taiwan is certainly one of those places that never get much mention, too many people think it's just China. I can tell you, it's not! (And no, my opinion has got nothing to do with the fact that I was born there)

Lonely Planet's Taiwan guide is really good, and also gives a good brief about it's political stance. If you are considering going, you should use that as reference.
