Fly to Europe in 5 hours? Yes please!
I am excited. There is a project out there to build an aircraft that would travel five times the speed of sound and take us to Europe in 5 hours.

So far, 5 hours is just enough for us (in Australia) to get out of our own borders on the otherside of the country. A trip to Europe, including a stop over in between, can easily stretch to 24 hours, which is not only long, but also uncomfortable when it comes to changing planes and waiting long hours at the transit terminal.
So can you imagine what this new plane could do? Not only will it boost tourism numbers both ways, it will also reduce some traveller fears.
The questions now are: When will it be commercially available, and how much would it cost? Let's hope it would actually cost about the same, or less. If we take the recent A380 release as an example, the plane takes more passengers on less fuel meaning less operating cost for the airlines. If this new plane can get to a destination faster without a stop over, it means more flight frequency is possible, one less airport tax/levy to pay so really, it also should reduce operating cost.
