Jervis Bay - beautiful white sands
I know I am moving up the coast but when it comes to beaches and a relaxing seaside holiday destination my heart still lies with the south coast. Specifically Jervis Bay.
Jervis Bay is approximately 2.5 hours drive south of Sydney and claims to have Australia's whitest sand beaches. The main town Huskisson can get quite busy with backpackers I personally prefer areas such as Vincentia and Sanctuary Point where the holiday parks are so we can camp.
What I love about this area is the beaches are calm and tranquil. I am not a surfer and don't need waves. The waters off this stretch of coast is crystal clear and you can swim out quite far before the waters get too deep. The sand - I'll have to mention again - is just white and soft. It's almost heaven.
As a scuba diver, I would also have to recommend Jervis Bay for the wonderful diving. Yes, the water can get slightly chilly but nothing a thick wet suit can't fix. The area is full of wonderful marine life full of colour and activity I could even say is better diving than the Great Barrier Reef because it's not over crowded and touristy. The water is so clear you can see every bit of colour around you which makes a great underwater photography site too.
There are also opportunities for dolphin and whale spotting. Most of the time when I am there, I just want to lie down on the sand and relax
Damn it - and I am moving further away from it!
