Planning my next trip - Option 1
March 20th 2008 04:38
I am going to give my destination pieces a break and for the next couple of posts I'd like to share with you what I am trying to plan for my next trips.
I find that I am forever planning trips, even if I have one already lined up or are in fact travelling. I have a tendency to look out for opportunities for the future and hence, it seems the list is growing endlessly.
Instead of just 'travelling' I'd like to do something more than seeing a place. You would remember I wrote a post about the Writing Retreat in Shimla that I really wanted to go.
Well, the date is coming up soon and I haven't been able to save up the money. So I am going to have to be content with moving to Coffs and write from my backyard (which isn't half bad to be honest!) However, there is still a trip to be planned. So I have been looking at other options.
Option 1:
There is an annual International Student Festival in Trondheim, Norway in January 2009. I know it's not this year but if I could combine in a quick European visit to Germany, I could have a good time at the Christmas Markets first before heading off to Trondheim.
This is currently the top option because it will give me plenty of time to save up, and it's something that my partner Will will be looking to go too, as it is a forum for international students and interested parties to go and discuss about global issues, just the thing both of us are interested.
The cost would be a flight to Europe, which in December will cost approximately AU$1700 (Sydney to London) - then Ryan Air flights to Frankfurt, then to Norway then back to London (I'd budget 100 Euros for these three legs) and accommodation in Germany. Once in Norway, accommodation and food will be paid for by ISFIT so there is no worries there.
We'll be able to stay with relatives in London and hopefully I can stay with friends in Germany to minimise cost (or of course there is the option of the Hospitality Club)
Then say another AU$1000 for extra travels and stuff.
Total approx. cost of option one: AU$2870
