Kuala Lumpur revisited
August 1st 2009 08:16
It was back in November 2007 I first reported on Kuala Lumpur. -> Kuala Lumpur:culture, good food, shopping shopping shopping!
This time, we made sure we visit again to this familiar city.
The first thing we saw? A massive poster advertising the Kuala Lumpur festival, and at the same time: THE MEGA SALE FESTIVAL!
Did I mention shopping? Yes! (And I only just wrote about KL being one of the best shopping tourist destinations only just a few weeks ago!)
So. Mega Sale festival huh? Something along the lines of our post-Christmas sales?
Nope. Better. MUCH better.
This is a national-wide festival with every shopping centre offering significant discounts on their stock. From time to time, up to 90% off! Kuala Lumpur is blessed with at least 5 large shopping centres to tease the shopping lovers, with Times Square and Mid City Valley being the best to spend a day or two in. Literally. These shopping centres are so big you can spend a whole day browsing without having to geet outside. To top it off, they each have their own hotels so once you have shopped until you drop, simply get in the lift, go up stairs and spend the night inspecting your great buys
The festival was so important the government offered all the shopping centres participating in the festival special electricity rates so they are open longer for the happy shoppers
The shopping was so good that Will ended up doing most of the shopping. Yep. You heard it, it's hard to get away from the shopping even if you are not a regular shopper!
Other than shopping we also took the chance to see parts of Kuala Lumpur we didn't get to see last time. Such as the KL bird park, the largest free-flight bird park in the world, as well as the old train station.
