Hong Kong - more fun at night
It's crowded. I know. There are just a bit more than 7 million people sharing the 1076 square kilometres land area (as a point of comparison, Sydney has 4.5 million people sharing 1788 square kilometres of land area) - there isn't much room to move. But when the lights of Victoria Harbour are switched on at 8pm nightly, you don't even notice the people.
It's one of those cheesy, yet a must do for first timers in Hong Kong (even for second timers like me, you never get tired of the bright colours dancing across the buildings):
Hong Kong shines at night, with some cafes, restaurants and clubbing venues opening til late (very late!), you are bound to find something to do somewhere in Hong Kong. Shopping ends around 9-10pm, making it great for those packing their day with day trips in and out of Hong Kong. Street stalls frying up the odd dumplings and siu-mai's and 24 hour yum cha places you'll never go hungry - you'll find there are enough options for all the people in Hong Kong.
Many flights land late in Hong Kong. But before you think about going to bed, head out and enjoy the night life - even if it is just heading up to the nearest roof top bars and unwind with a glass of red, you'll find Hong Kong at night really isn't so crowded after all.
Cheers.
