Secrets of Melbourne

I wanted to revisit Melbourne as a travel destination as I don't think I have written enough on what I love about Melbourne in my previous Melbourne posts: Melbourne and Gourmet Melbourne

I am here almost twice a year, but Melbourne has never ceased to surprise me with many of its hidden beauties.

Centre Place

Such as this little alley way I've dubbed "Harry Potter Lane". It's right in the middle of the busiest part of Melbourne city, yet feels so far away from everything else. Upon entering it you could almost feel the magic and see the little Hogsworth students in their black capes buying owls and wands. Cafes and boutique fashion stores line the sides and you can choose to sit among other coffee lovers right in the middle strip or hide in the cozy indoor seatings and feel right at home.

Degraves St

And Melbourne has plenty of these little side streets for you to discover. Some are in the city, and plenty others outside the city, mainly Brunswick St where plenty of alternative fashion and cafes are available. Very funky places to hang out.

Graffiti
Even the graffiti looks funky here

So next time you visit Melbourne, try stick your head in one of these hidden worlds. You'll fall head over heels in love with them.

Louie - I really got lost in them... but I didn't mind!

That's a very grubby street, my dear .

I've just had a two day stay in Kyoto, oh, those lovely geisha girls, and the gardens and temples and shrines, but now I'm back home in 'nippy' England, down on the farm.

But I rather like being the county squire.

I have always wanted to visit Kyoto Fobzy!
It is a grubby street, but photos don't exactly capture the real atmosphere at all. Have to be there to believe it.

Amy, do keep up dear, I've just done Sydney, how about Adelaide for you.
