Germany: Stuttgart
There isn't much in the city of Stuttgart. The city was pretty much flattened during the second world war and hence looking around you'd be seeing grey and un-interesting buildings and not much of any cultural or historical important left overs. However, it's still one of the top destinations for car lovers. This is the home of two very much loved car brands in the world: Mercedes Benz and Porsche.
Unfortunately at the time of my visit the Mercedes Benz factory museum wasn't open however I did take a peek into the Porsche museum and it was indeed satisfying. Small, but introduces visitors to some of the most significant models over the life of Porsche and if you arrive at the right times, you can even join a guided tour through the factory to see these babies being made.
As much as the city lacks a cultural or historical character, there are still lots of little side lane ways with some great boutique shopping in Stuttgart. Perhaps there is one more thing about Stuttgart to like: there are over 500 wineries surround the region of the city, and they are great local wines!
As a tourist, I might have been a tad disappointed with Stuttgart, however I can see myself living here as it's modern and has some pretty good entertainment listing. Bars and Pubs and excellent live music venues dot around the city and filled with student activities. And being a major transport hub in Germany, it's also easy to just hop onto a high speed train direct to another German destination.
