Gourmet Hong Kong (part 2)
Besides Yum Cha, there is food everywhere else you look. The culture puts a lot of emphasis on food, and food is the centre of every occasion and event. It's someone's birthday, you meet for food. It's someone's funeral, you meet for food. You have visitors from abroad, you bring them to food. You are talking about food most of the time, and everywhere you look - in shopping centres, on the street corners, at metro stations and on the footbridge crossing the road - there is food everywhere.
Hong Kong island and Mongkok are two best places for street food. Kowloon City (which is different to just 'Kowloon') is famous for their Thai food. The mass import of Filipino maids have introduced Filipino foods to Hong Kong and fine dining can be found in the areas in and around Times Square.
So you see, it isn't uncommon for visitors to Hong Kong to put on a few kilos after their visit
