Destination Belgium: Antwerp
If Diamond is your best friend, you will want to head over to Antwerp as well. This diamond capital of the world handles 80% of the world's rough diamond trade, and is the base for the famous Antwerp cut many women proudly sport on their fingers.
It's as if Antwerp knows exactly what women wants, as after visiting Diamondland where you can learn the different cuts of diamond as well as make purchases of diamonds from its source, you can also head over to the MoMu (Mode Museum) and check out fashion trends and collections as well as fabrics and materials available through the ages.
Personally, I enjoyed the culture and heritage. Unlike Brussels, Antwerp prides itself as the 'old' city. Don't be fooled by the well dressed and trendy Antwerpians: a walk through the city centre is like a stroll in a storybook scene, and I just love sitting in a cafe with a glass of good Belgian beer, soaking in the atmosphere around me.
After having been in Europe with all these castles and towers, I have noticed that the Italian and Belgian castles have one distinctive different. They are fat. Notice the large rounded walls and towers of the Steen castle and you can see what I mean. It has character and style, and almost all of them has a tale behind it.
The Antwerp port is also a pleasant place to be, if you enjoy sitting out in the sun watching people go by with the sounds of a nearby busker strumming out their favourite tune. Relax and unwind.
