As per request: Adelaide

Fobzy reminded me that I need to catch up. Indeed I have been neglecting you Travel String fans and I sincerely apologise - he's also suggested maybe I can counter write his Sydney post with one on Adelaide, and one I shall provide!
Let's revisit Adelaide. I have touched on Adelaide on Travel String before as well as about Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. Besides Melbourne, I'll have to say Adelaide is my second favourite city in Australia and would love to move there given the opportunity (After I've had my go at living in Melbourne first of course).
Just like Melbourne I have had the chance to visit Adelaide a few times and the last time I was there, I happened to trip onto this year's Tour Down Under. <view photos here>
What I really enjoyed was the atmosphere. There was no hostility towards the blocked roads, and the way Adelaide city was designed and laid out was simply perfect for a bike race. A market along Rundle St catered for those more interested in crafts and jewellery and the whole city just buzzed.
To top it off for me was the stand offering free bike hires supported by the SA government. I definitely know that Raven would love this!
Yes, Adelaide is certainly such a pleasant city to be riding in. Along the river, on the streets there are never any angst and stress for bikers compared to Sydney.
I strongly recommend a stroll along the river upon your visit, and admire the black swans and their ducklings that gracefully float along enjoying their day. Visiting in Autumn is also pleasant when the trees turn a warm orange and red and you truly would think you were somewhere in Europe.
And it is also in Adelaide you'll find some of the cheapest breakfasts in an Australian city
I got a bacon and eggs on toast with a cup of coffee for a whole $4.50!

I don't think I'm really suited to the travel industry, moving on with cars, at the moment.
